physicochemical analysis

The physicochemical analysis of the dielectric transformer oil , involves taking a sample for analysis in an accredited laboratory , which can diagnose the system state oil-paper insulation level presence of oxidation products and water content which may jeopardize the electrical safety of the transformer.

TEST OF HUMIDITY

This test method determines the moisture content of insulating oil by an automatic Karl Fischer coulometric titrator . An oil sample is injected into the device , the which automatically adds reagents to reach the endpoint. This is determined by means of electrodes perceive the electrical conditions in the reaction vessel . After reaching the stable point , stops the dosing device and electronically calculates the moisture content in the oil from the oil volume injected and the amount of reagent consumed .

DIELECTRIC STRENGTH

The voltage associated with the dielectric strength is an important measure of the electrical stresses that oil can endure without allowing it to fail. Is measured by applying a given voltage between two electrodes under conditions prescribed by ASTM Std .Also serves as an indication of the presence of contaminants particularly moisture and other solid and semisolid elements.

GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY

This analysis incipient or advanced flaws and internal shocks, corona effects and overheating of the oil or cellulose , that based on the presence of combustible gases such as hydrogen , carbon monoxide , methane , ethylene , acetylene are detected and others like Dioxide Carbon , ethane and oxygen, which can not be detected in a physicochemical analysis of dielectric oil . Gas chromatography allows you to program in advance the outage of a unit for internal inspection if necessary to avoid an unexpected failure of the transformer.
